What is RASA? Rwanda Anglican Students Association, which is abbreviated as RASA, We are a non-profit evangelical association that works under the Anglican Church of Rwanda, specifically in all universities and higher institutions, since 1997. We have a mission of proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ and edifying the body of Christ till we all come to the unity of faith and knowledge of the Son of God. (Eph4:13) HOW THE RASA BEGAN RASA was born in Butare at the former University of Rwanda (UNR) in 1997. Because of the persecution and the exclusion of the Anglican students who were treated by them in other churches, they worshiped because they were not allowed to praise God or preach the gospel that Anglicans are not saved. The seven students from the Anglican Church gathered together with the strength God gave them to start a community of Anglican students in the university.
God was with them and guided them; a forum was established called RANGURURA Choir, which means Don’t Shut Up and Let Us Speak. RASA was worked at the university and the Saint Paul Cathedral (EAR Butare Diocese) In 1999, the AJEUR organization was born from the RANGURURA Choir (ASSOXIATION DE JEUNNESSE EPISCOPALE UNIVESSITAIRES AU RWANDA). At that time the church was called EER (Eglise Episcopale ua Rwanda). After that, the church was called EER (Église épiscopale au Rwanda), EAR (Église anglicane du Rwanda), then AJEUR (Association de jeunesse épiscopale universitaire au Rwanda), renamed RASA (Rwanda Anglican Students Association).
Not only that, it was also for only JEUNNESSE (youth) but to be STUDENTS (students in general) so that all adults and youth can meet. Although we started working at the National University of Rwanda and at the St. Paul Cathedral, Butare. We have continued to expand. Now that RASA is working in 26 public and private universities and higher institutions, we continue to create RASA branches in other places that we have not yet reached, but with the main mission of proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ around the country.
To proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all university and high institution students, discipling believers, and influencing local churches, especially in the Anglican denominations.
(where we are going) and our mission (roadmap to get there) is based on our motto which is Salvation, Love and Work, all embedded in the word of God as the main resource (Neh2:17, Math28:18-20, 2Tim3:16-17, Rom10:9-19, Math12:46-50, Yoh13:35, Rev17:9, Math6:10, Itang2:15)
Conduct evangelistic activities inside the campuses and around its premises, engaging in Bible studies as we Pray together in cells. Gathering in mass fellowship services as we mobilize our members to help one another and live as one family in Jesus Christ, therefore integrating in solving different problems in our local society.
